Jakob Bjørner is Chief Science Officer at QualityMetric and Professor of Epidemiology at the National Research Centre for the Working Environment in Denmark. He also has affiliations with the University of Copenhagen and the University of Sheffield. Jakob specializes in applying modern psychometric theory to the measurement of health outcomes. In collaboration with John E. Ware Jr. and the science team at QualityMetric (formerly Optum Ourcomes), Jakob developed the DYNHA® computerized adaptive testing software for measuring patient reported health outcomes. They have subsequently developed several computerized adaptive tests of generic and disease-specific health. A physician by training, Jakob also holds a doctorate in medical sociology from the University of Copenhagen, from which he received a gold medal for his research on quality of life and HIV.
