Jonathan Wald, MD, MPH, FACMI, directs Patient-Centered Technologies in the Center for the Advancement of Health Information Technology at RTI with over 20 years experience in medical informatics and consumer-facing technologies. His work in academic, corporate, and research settings includes clinical systems design, development, usability, and policy. His publications are focused on chronic conditions, preventive health, process improvements, patient computing, electronic medical records, personalized medicine, and technology adoption. His primary interest is technology use by patients and providers to improve communication, clinical decision support, clinical outcomes, and the patient care experience.

Prior to RTI, Dr. Wald spent ten years (2000-2010) leading patient portal development and design at Partners HealthCare, Boston. He was a physician executive at Cerner Corporation (1996-2000) and an informatics fellow and faculty at Boston’s Beth Israel Hospital (1992-1996) after completing residency training in psychiatry at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (1988-1992) and finishing his medical school training at Brown in 1988.

Dr. Wald serves as Fellow in the American College of Medical Informatics and as Harvard Medical School faculty. He is the president-elect of the Society for Participatory Medicine.
