Indus Hospital
Tariq A. Qaiser is a practicing architect. He is based in Karachi Pakistan, and is the CEO of the firm TAQ Associates Architecture & Interior Design Pvt. (ltd.). He is a lifetime member of the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners, a member of the Institute of Architects Pakistan, and a founding member of the Pakistan Institute of Interior Design. He is the recipient of “Excellence in Architecture” 2009, award for Architectural Interiors, awarded by the Institute of Architects Pakistan. His works have been profiled and published in architectural journals, and other media. He has presented and discussed his projects in various educational intuitions, seminars and conferences.
Affiliations to education intuitions has been important in his career, TAQ has been on the board of studies of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, and a Studio Instructor for 5th year Architecture Studio, at the IVSA over several years. He is also an external advisor for architecture students from various Architectural schools in Pakistan.
TAQ and his office have been involved in Healthcare Design since 1990. He holds the post of Principal Architect for the Indus Hospital Karachi. In this regard TAQ has presented the design of an MDR TB facility at a seminar in Istanbul, for the Civilian Research & Development Foundation, in Jan 2009. Tariq has also been a Faculty member at the Harvard School of Public Health, summer 2009 course “Building Design and Engineering Approaches to Airborne Infection Control”. He has also been a Lecturer / Facilitator, for the airborne infection control workshop at the Tropical Diseases Foundation, Manila Philippines, in Nov 2009.
Tariq is involved in several NGOs. He heads Indus HDR, (Indus Healthcare Design Resource) a group focusing on setting up a resource center for healthcare design. He is a board member of the Hunar Foundation, an intuition developing technical schools. He contributes architectural services to The Citizens Foundation, an organization setting up primary schools in less privileged areas. TAQ is a founding member of PANI, (People and Nature Initiative) a NGO committed to cleaning water, and setting up of water treatment plants in Pakistan.
Tariq Qaiser is a photographer and paints. He has been commissioned to install photographic works in several office spaces and buildings. In 2010 he has exhibited mix media portraits at the faculty art show of the IVSAA. In 2009 he has taken part in a group exhibition “Architecture beyond the board”, shown a mix media piece for “Celebrating Karachi”, and photographic works “reductive photography” in a two person show, titled “From Father to Son” at the Koel Gallery Karachi.
