Dr. Ciriello is a Research Scientist at the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety. He is also an Instructor in Biomechanics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Ciriello received a BA in Biology, a MS in Health Dynamics, and a ScD in Applied Anatomy and Physiology, all from Boston University. His main areas of research have been manual materials handling, low back pain, cumulative trauma disorders, muscle physiology, heat stress, and fatigue; and has a moderate number of publications in these areas. Dr. Ciriello has been at Liberty Mutual since 1969 and at Harvard since 1984. He is a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE), and a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and the American College of Sports Medicine.
