Development of a Phthalate Environmental Reproductive Health Literacy (PERHL) Scale and Evaluating Neighborhood-Level Differences in Hair Product Safety in Retailers in Boston, MA

This research-in-progress seminar features two presenters. Katie Tomsho will discuss health literacy. After defining health literacy, she will describe the basic steps of exploratory factor analysis and describe the six latent factors underlying phthalate and environmental reproductive health literacy. Marissa Chan will present on the topic of neighborhood-level differences in hair product safety. She will discuss retailer redlining in the context of personal care products, explain differences in hair product safety among neighborhoods in Boston and describe drivers of hair product use patterns at the neighborhood community level
