Intersecting Epidemiologic Approaches and Implementation Science to Improve Research and Clinical Gaps for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Mental Health Care

December 6, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Speaker: Phoutdavone “Noy” Phimphasone-Brady, PhD

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrinopathies that affect reproductive aged females. The estimated prevalence of PCOS in people who menstruate is as high as 20%. However, it is estimated that up to 70% of community-based/non-treatment seeking people meet criteria for PCOS but are not currently diagnosed, which has implications on their reproductive, metabolic, and psychiatric health. This lecture will focus on the use and potential of epidemiologic approaches alongside implementation science methods to improve treatment and research gaps in PCOS care at both the local and population health levels.
