Abstract: The causal framework has substantially improved observational studies on cause and effect. In recent years, however, the causal framework has also been used to improve prediction. In his talk, Dr. Kurth will present two examples of how the causal framework can be used to improve the transportability and predictor selection of prediction models.

Bio: Tobias Kurth, MD, ScD, is Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Berlin Germany where he directs the Institute of Public Health. He further is an Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, MA, USA.
