Economic Evaluation Alongside Clinical Trials: Examples and methods implications

Abstract: Economic evaluation is utilized by healthcare payers in many countries around the world to guide funding decisions for new technologies and pharmaceuticals. The conduct of economic evaluation alongside clinical trials is an efficient and timely way to generate required evidence. Such an approach has both benefits and limitations. Examples of economic evaluation results from several trial based evaluations will be presented along with reflections on how to increase rigor and progress economic evaluation methods.
