Frontier Application of Health Economics to Health Policy in China and U.S.

June 1st, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

With rapidly changing population demographics and rising healthcare expenditure resulted from increasing drug prices, healthcare systems in both China and the U.S. are facing unprecedented challenges in optimizing medical spending and resource distribution to achieve better health outcomes for their patients. The COVID-19 pandemic imposed further challenges regarding equitable health policy decisions. The topic including stakeholder responsibilities, value-based pricing for drugs, pharmaceutical purchasing mechanisms, and healthcare reimbursement structures are frequently visited. To better address the problem, frontier research in the field of health economics has taken place to develop innovative methods to provide evidence-based policy insights for decision-making in healthcare.

The 10th Session of the Harvard Frontier Healthcare Cross Talk series focuses on the topic of “Frontier Application of Health Economics to Health Policy in China and U.S.”. We are honored to have 2 guest speakers: Dr. Gordon G. Liu (Professor of Economics at the PKU National School of Development) and Dr. Peter J. Neumann (Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine).
