Rep. Lauren Underwood brings a unique perspective to Capitol Hill. The youngest African-American woman ever to serve in the House, she is a registered nurse and former senior adviser to the Department of Health and Human Services, where she helped communities prepare for bioterrorism threats and other public health emergencies. The Illinois Democrat will discuss emergency preparedness, Black maternal health, reproductive rights, gun violence, disinformation, and other issues at the top of her agenda in this Q&A with POLITICO reporter Lauren Gardner.
