Dr. Joshua Petimar is a Research Scientist in the Department of Population Medicine at the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. His research primarily focuses on ways to improve the retail food environment. This includes evaluating the effects of nutrition policies (such as calorie labeling and beverage taxes) and food marketing on diet and health outcomes. He does this using point of sale data from restaurants and supermarkets and electronic health record data. His other projects examine medication-induced weight gain using electronic health record data. He received his joint doctorate in Nutrition and Epidemiology from Harvard, where he studied the relationships between diet, obesity, and cancer.
