Once you have contacted a lender and been pre-approved for a loan, please fill out the Preliminary Private Loan Request Form to notify our office. This will allow us to reflect your loan information on your student account to cover charges applied to avoid being placed on a financial hold. For international students, this also allows you to use the loan as part of your visa certification.
Please note that non-degree students and students in less than half time programs may not be eligible for in-school deferment.
We encourage all prospective borrowers to review all their options and consider the following:
- Credit requirements
- Interest rate terms (ie: fixed or variable)
- Fees
- Repayment incentives for the borrower
- Total cost
- Deferment and forbearance options
- Repayment timelines and flexibility
Note: The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, like all of Harvard University, has no financial interest in your choice of lender.
