Dr. Gillian SteelFisher is a Senior Research Scientist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She serves as the Deputy Director of the Harvard Opinion Research Program (HORP) and the Director of its Global Polling Unit.
Dr. SteelFisher leads HORP’s efforts in emergency polling with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through a cooperative agreement with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO). This includes a series of polls domestically and internationally to understand the public response to key public health crises, including Zika virus, Ebola, H1N1 and pandemic flu. She also leads a collaboration with UNICEF to use polling studies of parent and caregiver views on vaccination to support global polio eradication as well as broader immunization services.
Dr. SteelFisher received her Ph.D. in Health Policy from Harvard University and served as an Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) Fellow in Health Services Research in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. She also received her Masters in health behavior and communication from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. SteelFisher currently serves as President Emeritus for the New England chapter of the American Association of Public Opinion Research (NEAAPOR) and as a Thought Leader for the National Public Health Information Coalition (NPHIC).
