Diploma Information

Diploma Name

Students can choose how they want their name to appear on their diploma, but the name must be their legal name and cannot be a nickname or preferred name.

Students will review their name as it appears in my.harvard when they complete the Graduation Application. If a student wants to change how my.harvard lists their full name (for example, add a middle name or last name which does not appear in my.harvard), they must submit an Identity Change Request form.

Adding a ‘diploma name’ in my.harvard will not be considered a valid change and will not be used in printing diplomas.

Diploma Delivery

All diplomas will be mailed.  In order to ensure that your diploma arrives at the desired address, log in to my.harvard, add the “Diploma Mailing Address”, and confirm your phone number before the date below.

Certified Electronic Diplomas

In addition to physical copies of diplomas, graduates now receive Certified Electronic Diplomas and Certificates (CeDiploma® and CeCertificate®). The CeDiploma is an official, secure and verifiable PDF version of your accomplishment.

The CeDiploma is sent:

  • To your official Harvard email
    • Download and certify your CeDiploma as soon as it is received. It is tied to your Harvard email address and cannot be accessed once the email address is retired.

  • After graduation, or once any outstanding balance has been paid
    • The CeDiploma was introduced in March 2021. Students who graduate after that date will receive one, no additional action is needed.

Additional information regarding CeDiplomas can be found on the Harvard University website.
