Hemen Muleta

As a research assistant within HaSET, Hemen was involved in several projects including a Scoping Review, KMC Family Integrated Newborn Care, and the BIRHAN Mortality Surveillance. Hemen spent two months over the summer of 2019 developing the standards of operation, training data collectors, launching a pilot, and developing the data collection system for the verbal autopsy study tool within the BIRHAN Mortality Surveillance.

Prior to medical school, Hemen graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Public Health. After Hopkins, she worked on a smoking and alcohol cessation study in the homeless population in Minnesota through the University of Minnesota Program in Health Disparities Research. She grew up in Ethiopia and is passionate about developing a career within pediatrics research in the country.
