Sophie Knudson

Sophie was a Student Researcher at HaSET for the 2022-2023 academic year. When she joined our team, she spent the previous four years working at PATH, a global health nonprofit based in Seattle, WA with many country offices around the world. More recently, she had been working as a research associate, helping conduct various studies including a Shigella vaccine feasibility and acceptability study in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya, Nepal, and Vietnam; two preeclampsia diagnostic tool developments from performance evaluations to usability studies; malaria diagnostic performance studies; quality assurance of HIV tests; and a resource library for published literature on COVID-19 disease and vaccination in pregnancy and breastfeeding populations. Her hope is that she will be able to work in research and experience a health system in another country, and specifically focus on maternal and child health. Research is important to Sophie because she’d like to take those learnings and contribute to the evidence generation of global and public health strategies and priorities.
