Dr. Jennifer Prah Ruger is the Amartya Sen Professor of Health Equity, Economics, and Policy at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a leading scholar of global and domestic health policy and public health. Her theoretical and empirical studies address equity among women and children. Dr. Prah Ruger directs the Health Equity and Policy Lab (HEPL) at the University of Pennsylvania, which studies health policy and public health problems related to equity and efficiency of health system access, financing, resource allocation, policy reform and the social determinants of health. She has received numerous awards and accolades, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Greenwall Faculty Scholar Award in Bioethics, and a Donaghue Investigator Award. She is the author of books including Health and Social Justice (2009) and Global Health Justice and Governance (2018), both published by Oxford University Press.
