Lucia Magis-Weinberg Seminar

On April 5th, 2023, Dr. Lucía Magis-Weinberg, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Washington, visited the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health to give a seminar titled “Global Perspectives on Social Media and Adolescence”.  Dr. Magis-Weinberg directs the International Adolescent Connection and Technology Laboratory. Her research focuses on how the social and affective developmental tasks of adolescence have been transformed by the digital era—particularly in understudied populations in international settings. Her laboratory collaborates with schools in Latin America to advance knowledge on adolescent development and technology use, and also apply developmental science to design school-based interventions to promote digital citizenship and healthy digital habits. Before joining UW, she conducted research at the Institute of Human Development at University of California, Berkeley as a postdoctoral scholar. She is executive editor of, a leading science communication platform for Latin America. Magis-Weinberg earned her MD from the National Autonomous University of México and her PhD in developmental cognitive neuroscience from University College London.
