Change in Leadership

After six years as one of the founding Co-Directors of the Lee Kum Sheung Center for Health and Happiness, Dr. Laura Kubzansky will be stepping down from her role as Co-Director effective December 1. As the Center moves forward, it will pivot to focus primarily on translational science and translational activities, building on the positive health science Dr. Kubzansky played a key role in developing. Starting December 1, Dr. Kubzansky will take on the role of Special Advisor as the Center undergoes its transition; Dr. Kasisomayajula “Vish” Viswanath will continue as the sole director of the Center. Dr. Kubzansky will continue to serve as Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and will pursue new opportunities to further develop her work in the science of positive health.

We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Kubzansky’s tremendous contributions and leadership in establishing and building the Center and the important science base on which it now rests. Under the founding leadership of Drs. Kubzansky and Viswanath, the Center established itself as a hub for positive health science, significantly advancing scientific understanding of the connections across positive psychological and social well-being, positive social environments, and physical health. The Center also has become a major platform in the study and practice of communication and translation of positive health.

During her time as Co-Director, Dr. Kubzansky spearheaded numerous seminal activities, including building the field with robust training and education opportunities, developing a broad range of tools and resources to facilitate scholarship in the area of positive health science, and making the new science available to practitioners. We are grateful for her scholarship and leadership in this field.
