HEPCAPS2 was awarded as a follow-on project to the HEPCAPS1 project, which was implemented from 2011-2012 by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Yale Global Health Leadership Institute.  Below are documents developed as part of the HEPCAPS project.

HEPCAPS Situation Analysis

In early 2012 a comprehensive situation analysis of the Ethiopian primary health care system was conducted by the HEPCAPS project. This analysis draws on a comprehensive literature review, as well as extensive interviews conducted in the field. From February 27 – March 30, 2012 the HEPCAPS1 project team conducted 50 key informant and group interviews with stakeholders from the government, partners, and community.

HEPCAPS Convening Report

In order to assist the FMOH in generating strategies to further develop the HEP into an effective and sustainable primary health care delivery system, a two-day convening was held in Boston from July 30-31, 2012 to share the experiences from other countries in developing primary health care delivery systems. Faculty and practitioners from the World Health Organization (WHO), Harvard University, and Yale University participated in the convening, as well as representatives from Ethiopia, Brazil, Estonia, and Sri Lanka, South Africa, Thailand and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The report below presents reflections from the convening and lessons learned globally in developing primary care delivery systems.
