Alok Ranjan

Alok Ranjan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur. He obtained his doctorate in Public Health from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, in 2019. His research focused on measuring unmet healthcare needs in the context of the progress towards universal health coverage in India. Alok’s research interests lie in the areas of access to healthcare, financial risk protection, and healthcare financing. Previously, he has worked on different projects funded by USAID, CDC Foundation, WHO, and the Indian Council of Medical Research. He was also a Post-Doctoral Fellow at IIT-Madras, where he examined the innovations in maternal and child health in Tamil Nadu, India. He received his Masters in Public Health from TISS, Mumbai, in 2015, and Bachelors in Occupational Therapy from Christian Medical College, Vellore, in 2011. Alok joined the research team of Dr. Winnie Yip as a post-doctoral Fulbright scholar through the Fulbright-Nehru Visiting Scholars program in 2021-22. He studied elderly health in India and United States, and also contributed to the analyses of the Odisha survey data.
