The Department of Information Technology is pleased to host our annual Tech Day on Thursday, May 2.
11:30 am – 1:30 pm, in the Kresge Atrium.
We’ll be showcasing the latest tech, answering questions, and raffling off a new Fitbit Charge 3!
Tours:
We will offer quick 10 minute tours of the new classroom technology in Kresge G1.
Topics include:
- Two-Step Verification — Now available for Office 365 accounts. Opt-in and double your raffle chances! Two-step verification is an extra layer of security designed to ensure that you’re the only person who can access your Harvard account.
- Help Desk and General Assistance — Meet with the IT Help Desk Team. Faculty, staff and students are invited to bring questions.
- LabPoint — Learn about the latest upgrade to version 3.0. LabPoint is used across the University and allows laboratories to inventory their space for chemicals, biological agents, and other hazardous materials.
- HUIT Security — HUIT will promote new cyber security initiatives across the University.
- Poll Everywhere — The digital learning team will showcase a real time audience response system that uses mobile phones or web browsers.
- Data Storage — Learn more about OneDrive, Sharepoint, and Dropbox solutions to meet your storage needs.
- Shared Instrumentation Network — Learn about the online platform for sharing scientific instruments available to faculty, students, fellows, and visiting scientists.
- Windows 10 — Schedule an upgrade today! (Microsoft will no longer support Windows 7 as of January 2020).
- WordPress — The web team will showcase the latest website initiatives.
- VDI — The server team will be demonstrating virtual desktops. Students, staff and faculty can ask questions and learn about using instructional computing lab software from their own computers.
- Zoom — Learn about a new web conferencing tool that we are currently piloting.
