New Staff Additions: Kiara Oliver, Rayniel Pereira, Darren Balsam, Esteban Espinoza

We are pleased to welcome Kiara Oliver, Rayniel Pereira, Darren Balsam, and Esteban Espinoza to the Department of Information Technology.

Kiara and Esteban are Northeastern University student co-ops, and they will be working full-time from January through June as part of their degree programs.   Darren is studying cyber-security and Rayniel is studying information technology at Year Up Boston, a program dedicated to closing the opportunity divide between urban youth and businesses.  The Harvard T.H. Chan Department of Information Technology has been a proud partner of YearUp since 2010, placing and training more than a dozen interns.  Rayneil and Darren will be with us full-time from February through July.

Kiara was born in El Paso Texas and was raised in Fall River MA. She is a third year Computer Science and Music Technology major. She is passionate about technology, music, and helping others.  Looking forward, Kiara would like to pursue a career as a Computer Forensics Analyst.

Interesting facts: Kiara’s hobbies include music production and recording, song writing, dancing, singing, and cooking.

 

 

Darren grew up in the Greater Boston area.  For the past six months he has been studying Information Security. He has always been interested in the technology field, and loves learning new things. Darren is proficient in Microsoft Office applications and has a good background in troubleshooting and networking concepts. In the future he is looking to obtain numerous certifications like Security+ and Network+.

Interesting facts: Darren’s hobbies include building gaming PCs and watching professional and collegiate sports.

 

 

 

Rayniel Pereira is from Boston and grew up in many cities in the Greater Boston area. This is his first internship in Information Technology. He has worked mainly in food service/customer service over the past 4 years.  He is most interested in the troubleshooting aspect of IT.

Interesting fact: Ray works at TD Garden as a security guard.

 

 

Esteban is originally from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and is currently pursuing a combined major in Computer Science and Music Composition & Technology. He is the first intern to join the Project Management team at HSPH IT. With previous experience as a 1st level support technician, product development engineer in software, and AmeriCorps volunteer, Esteban brings his commitment to service through technology to the Department of Information Technology.

Interesting facts: Esteban practices songwriting and music production in his free time. He has independently released his music and can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, and other major streaming platforms.
