COMPLETE: 3/21/20, 2:00am VPN Reboot

Update: 3/21/20

Maintenance is complete and the service is running normally.

Posted: 3/20/20

The VPN (Virtual Private Network) service will undergo maintenance to increase performance.  A reboot of the VPN system will happen on Saturday, 3/21/20 at 2:00am Eastern time.  Any users on VPN at that time will be dropped and will have to reconnect. Impact is expected to be 5 minutes or less.

The VPN service has seen usage increase by 75% since last Friday.  As teaching and learning activities resume next week, we expect VPN usage to continue to increase.  Based on advice from the VPN vendor, HUIT will be implementing a performance-related configuration change.

Please note there is an abundance of commonly used services and applications that no longer require a VPN.  These can all be accessed with typical home/public Internet access.
