Update: May 30, 2021 – COMPLETE

We are happy to announce that this weekend’s work has been completed early.

Service is restored and you may once again access network drives such as the S:\ drive and G:\ drive.

If you experience any issues connecting to the network drives, we recommend that you reboot your computer.  If you continue to have issues, please contact us at 617-432-4357 or helpdesk@hsph.harvard.edu.

During the extended Memorial Day weekend, the Department of Information Technology will be replacing and upgrading our network storage (P:\ drive, S:\ drive, G:\ drive, …) to a new Dell Isilon system.  Dell Isilon is the new Harvard standard for data storage with new systems being recently installed at FAS Research Computing, HMS Research Computing, and the Harvard College Library.

At 8 pm, on Friday, May 28, access to network drives will be disabled to allow for the final copy of files from the old system to the new system.

At 5 pm on Tuesday, June 1, access to network drives will be restored.

If our auditing process completes prior to June 1st, we will restore service sooner and notify the community.

There will be no change in user experience in accessing the drives on the new system.

Additionally, please note that this only applies to our on-premise shared drives.  Office 365, OneDrive, Sharepoint, Canvas, etc. are not impacted and will remain in service throughout the maintenance.

If you have any questions, please contact us at 617-432-4357 or helpdesk@hsph.harvard.edu.

Thank You,
Deane Eastwood, CIO
