Networking Upgrades on December 22 from 9:00 pm to 3:00 am

Harvard Networking Services will be performing upgrades to our networking equipment in the following SPH locations tonight, December 22nd from 9:00pm to 3:00am. Each site below will lose network connectivity for a period of 15 minutes sometime during the maintenance period. If you work and/or have equipment that is connected to the network in any of these locations, please turn off your computers and networked printers before 9:00pm tonight.

Here are the locations:

  • Building 1 – All Floors
  • Building 2 – All Floors
  • 1633 Tremont Street
  • 1635 Tremont Street
  • 1639 Tremont Street
  • 718 Huntington Avenue

Please call the Helpdesk (617-432-4357) if anyone has problems logging back into the network on December 23rd or if you have any questions about this work.

MyHarvardChan and ALICE scheduled maintenance on Saturday and Sunday

Update, Saturday, 9/12/2015: The upgrade was successful and all systems are fully functional.  Sunday’s maintenance window is now unnecessary and has been cancelled.

The Department of Information Technology is writing to inform you of a system outage scheduled for the ALICE and myHarvardChan Student Information System (SIS) that will start Saturday, September 12th at 9:00am and end Sunday, September 13th at 5:00pm.

During this maintenance window, we will install vendor-supplied software updates to our SIS.  Continued updates allow us to keep features, functionality and security up to date.  The following systems are affected:

  • *myHarvardChan portal
  • ALICE Self Service for Students and Faculty
  • Internet Native Banner (Administrative users)

You will still be able to access unaffected services such as email, course sites, the School Events calendar, NetStorage, and more by visiting the current portal address:

http://myharvardchan.sph.harvard.edu

If we complete the work sooner than anticipated, we will notify all users when the systems are again available.

We appreciate your patience during this very important upgrade process.

Server and Network Maintenance: Thursday Night, July 16

Update: All updates were successful.

To All Harvard Chan School users:

On Thursday, July 16, we will be performing our normal monthly system maintenance to all servers and network gear. The maintenance window will last from 7PM to 1AM.

The following services will have one or two small outages:
(You can continue to work, but may have brief pauses while services restart)
– File and Print services
– ICF File services
– ICF Print services
– NetStorage
– Kanaka
– Powerfaids and NetPartner
– Accellion File Transfer service
– Wasabi

There will be a single, 15 minute outage between 7:00PM and 1:00AM to the Virtual Desktop System:
– ICF Physical machines and ICF VDI/Virtual Desktop System
– Staff VDI/Virtual Desktop System

The following services will be unavailable from 7pm – 10:30pm:
– ALICE
– myHarvardChan Portal

The following services will be unaffected during the maintenance window:
– Web Server (main www.hsph.harvard.edu site)
– HUIT ICEmail/O365 (Outlook) system
– ALICE Development/Testing systems

Website Outage (Resolved)

Early this morning beginning at approximately 2:30 am, the HSPH main website began experiencing intermittent outages.  Our vendor had scheduled an overnight maintenance window to upgrade our cloud database solution.  The upgrade both took longer than expected and had a greater impact than expected.

As of 8:10 am, the issue was resolved.  All websites are fully operational.

The maintenance window will last from 7PM to 1AM.

  • Landmark Networking. All PCs at Landmark will lose network access. Please shutdown all PCs and Network Printers before 7PM.

Course Video Maintenance Window on Saturday, January 10

Update: updates were successful and Mediasite is fully functional.

On Saturday, January 10, our course capture partner will be making upgrades to our course capture server between the hours of 1 am and 5 am.

Access to HSPH course videos (Mediasite) may become unavailable for brief periods during this scheduled maintenance window.

Maintenance Window: Sunday, August 17

Update on Monday, August 18, 9:00 AM:  All systems are fully functioning and downtime maintenance has been successfully completed.

Update on Monday, August 18, 8:30 AM: The computer laboratory network drive issue has been resolved.

Update on Monday, August 18, 8:00 AM: An issue has been identified in the computer labs.  Computers are currently unable to connect to network drives.

On Sunday, August 17th, we will be performing our normal system maintenance to all servers.

The maintenance window will last from 7PM to 1AM.

Note – Our normal Thursday window is being moved to Sunday to accommodate the academic calendar.

There will be a school-wide Wireless Network outage between 7:00PM to 10:00PM:
