The background of participants was quite heterogeneous, including analysts and managers from several different federal government organizations, from well-known NGOs & international organizations, and students from graduate programs at the University of Rwanda.
Instructors
Mr. Muhammed Semakula, University of Rwanda and the African Center for Excellent in Data Science (ACE-DS). He was a fellow in the first cohort and now is a teaching assistant and course developer for the McGoldrick Program
Dr. Vedaste Ndahidwa, a medical doctor and lecturer at the UR SPH, and a co-instructor of the UR / ACE-DS M&E Workshop (for Cohort 1).
Eric Mooring, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Epidemiology at HSPH and a co-instructor of the UR/ACE-DS M&E Workshop (for Cohort 1).
Dr. Sarah Anoke, Former Scientific Director of the McGoldrick Professional Development Program (2017-2018)
This workshop had four co-instructors, listed above. They each taught several sessions over the course of the week, as described in the workshop schedule below.
The schedule for the UR/ACE-DS M&E Workshop (June 2018). The bracketed letters denote the initials of the instructor delivering the lecture. Practicums were hands-on Stata computing sessions, where participants learned how lecture content was used in data analysis.
Participant Feedback
After completing the week-long workshop, participants anonymously completed an exit survey, rating the course on several metrics as well as providing freeform feedback.

Certificate of Completion distributed at the end of the University of Rwanda / ACE-DS M&E Workshop (June 2018). At the end of the workshop, each participant received a Certificate of Participation. A second Certificate of Completion was given to those who attended at least 4 of the 5 workshop days, submitted all homework, and scored at least 70% on the post-test.
