MCH Leadership Lab Application
The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Leadership Lab is a competitive fellowship opportunity open to students pursuing the Interdisciplinary Concentration in MCH. MCH Leadership Lab students are matched with a research or practice opportunity and meet monthly for networking events, workshops in leadership skills, and mentorship. To be considered for the MCH Leadership Lab, students must concentrate in MCH.

Delivery Decisions | Ariadne Labs
Ariadne Labs is a joint center for health systems innovation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Ariadne Labs offers practicum opportunities in child birth working on Cesarean section. Practicum students work closely with the TeamBirth data collection, run analyses, write reports and interview stakeholders.
Neonatal Program | Brigham and Women’s Hospital
Students will have an opportunity to collaborate research with 5 Boston-area NICUs to improve health and developmental outcomes of preterm infants and to help design and pilot-test a comprehensive parent-reported outcome assessment tool for preterm infants.
Research on Maternal, Newborn, Child Health in Ethiopia | HaSET
Students will have an opportunity to develop research skills to design and implement studies, analyze data, and write manuscripts; to join a research team and engage in a research project from beginning to end.
Division for Children & Youth with Special Health Needs | Massachusetts Department of Public Health
Students will develop a short measurement tool with acuity levels that can accurately and objectively determine levels of complexity in Children and Youth with Special Health Needs, interview DCYSHN program managers to understand the history of their current acuity levels and how they relate to program eligibility, align acuity levels within the Division as appropriate, and lead the DCYSHN Management Team.
Home Visitation Program | Rhode Island Health Department
Student will gain understanding of implementation science, understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI and its role in program design and implementation), and will gain practical experience conducting analysis working with large data sets.
Birth Beyond Bars
Students will conduct Qualitative analysis of mother and caregiver in-depth interviews as well as mixed-methods interviews with caregivers and mothers. Study questionnaires assess Caregiver demographics, mental health, social support, enrollment in social services, household needs, and relationship with the incarcerated mother.
Women’s Center | Maine Department of Corrections
The mission of the Women’s Center at the Maine Department of Corrections is to reduce recidivism and increase accountability among female offenders by using a variety of evidence based and gender informed practices. The Department offers educational and vocational opportunities that address individual needs and encourage growth to females during their incarceration and students will help to assist in these areas.
Modelo Health
First preventative care app that monitors across all health determinants, and provides a culturally-concordant and personalized experience to every mom and her birth team. Student will help develop data tools, conduct mixed methods data collection, work with grant materials and more.
Better Birth | Ariadne Labs – Paused
Students will conduct literature reviews, support development of technical materials for consultation, and support tool development while working to improve the quality of care, minimize complications, and end the preventable deaths of women and newborns through effective implementation of evidence-based, scalable solutions at the frontline of care.
Harvard Catalyst Community Engagement – Paused
Students will help build sustained, bi-directional collaborations between community organizations and Harvard via student practice placements focused on improving child health, promoting cancer screening and prevention.
Horizons for Homeless Children – Paused
The student will assist with data collection, cleaning, and implementing the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and analyze data already collected in collaboration with Harvard team.
