Welcoming New Faculty

We are thrilled to share that Dr. Sudha Biddinger and Dr. Jean Schaffer have joined our MET faculty. As of January, each holds a secondary appointment in MET and they and their lab groups will be full and active members of our department. Please join us in welcoming them to our community. We look forward to their participation in all department happenings.

Welcome, Sudha and Jean!

The mission of the Biddinger Laboratory is to define the molecular chain of events that link obesity, cardiovascular disease, fatty liver disease, and gallstones, leading to more effective prevention and treatment of these disorders. http://www.biddingerlab.org/

The Schaffer Lab uses genetic, biochemical, cell biological, and physiological approaches to study mechanisms through which metabolic stress leads to cell dysfunction and cell death. A major area of focus is the lipotoxicity that results from high circulating free fatty acids and triglycerides, metabolic abnormalities that are common in type 2 diabetes and that contribute to cardiac and hepatic complications. https://www.schafferlab.org/
