On May 4th, 2023 Dr. Sheng Tony Hui, Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Metabolism at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, will accept the 13th annual Armen H. Tashjian Jr. Award for Excellence in Endocrine Research. Following the award ceremony, he will share his seminar titled, “New roles of the chemical messengers IL-6 and FGF21 in energy metabolism”. The selection committee for this award is comprised of Sudha Biddinger, MD, Ph.D., David E. Golan, MD, Ph.D., and Brendan D. Manning, Ph.D.
Dr. Sheng Tony Hui joined the Department of Molecular Metabolism at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health as an assistant professor in 2020. He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Hong Kong Baptist University and his Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of California at San Diego. He performed his postdoctoral training at Princeton University. The Hui lab aims to understand the fundamental mechanisms that regulate body weight and target these mechanisms to treat obesity and cachexia. Dr. Hui is also the Faculty Director of the Harvard Chan Advanced Multi-omics Platform.
Armen’s legacy includes influential contributions to the field of endocrine research, encouragement, and teaching of fellows and students, his unique ability to ask questions that are thought-provoking and stimulating across many fields, and a warm personality that brought people together to make science happen. This annual award is a genuinely loving response to a great man’s contributions to research and teaching, and his compassion to promote and advocate for young scientists.

The Award Ceremony and lecture will be held as a hybrid event, in-person in Kresge G3 Lecture Hall and via webinar on May 4th, 2023 at 4 pm. In-person reception to follow in the FXB Atrium at 5 pm.
