December 8, 2023 – Members of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health community gathered in Kresge cafeteria on December 5 to take part in the School’s second Day of Service. Nearly 200 volunteers worked on a range of projects during the afternoon event. They filled 180 backpacks with supplies for high school students from newly arrived refugee and immigrant families; packed 175 winter kits with warm weather gear, snacks, and personal care products for people without housing; created 65 no-sew blankets for children who are seriously ill, traumatized, in foster care, or unhoused; created cards with personal messages to accompany the backpacks and winter kits; and filled donation boxes with toys, game, and books. As Interim Dean Jane Kim noted in a thank-you email to the community, “The [Kresge] atrium and café were buzzing with energy and purpose.”
