New Healthy Meeting Guidelines promote nutritious eating at School events

Arlene Richburg, executive chef, Sebastian's Cafe; Walter Willett, professor of epidemiology and nutrition; event organizer Aviva Musicus,SD ’20; and Frances Fahy, manager, Sebastian's, worked together to make these guidelines possible.

February 6, 2017- Nutrition student Aviva Musicus, SD ’20, saw the catering menu at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health as an opportunity to cultivate healthier behaviors among students, faculty, and staff. Over the past year, she and colleagues on the Harvard Chan Student Association collaborated with the Office for Student Affairs, Sebastian’s Café, and the Nutrition Department to create Healthy Meeting Guidelines. This set of tips acknowledges the close relationship between the workplace environment and dietary behavior, and sets standards to model behavior that supports the health of the community. The guidelines were launched at an event held January 31, 2017 in the Kresge Cafeteria that included a tasting of offerings from the updated Sebastian’s Café catering menu.
