Sharing ideas on public health education

December 19, 2014 — The Harvard School of Public Health Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases welcomed a delegation of 16 academic leaders from Nigeria and Ghana on December 10–11, 2014. Chair Dyann Wirth, Richard Pearson Strong Professor of Infectious Diseases, and Phyllis Kanki, professor of immunology and infectious diseases, hosted the group for a meeting focused on the work of the Department, e-learning activities, and the Harvard Integrated Life Sciences (HILS) graduate program. Wirth is the faculty chair of HILS, which oversees all PhD education in the life sciences across the University. The aim of the meeting was to share ideas about public health education.

A member of the delegation, Provost Folasade Ogunsola of the College of Medicine at the University of Lagos, later presented a special departmental seminar on Ebola in Nigeria. Watch a video of the seminar.

Others in the group have collaborated with Kanki on long-running AIDS prevention efforts in Nigeria.
