Board Success

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requires that at least 75% of residency graduates taking the ABPM certification exam pass it on their first attempt. Although our ABPM stats have been excellent, we have initiated a weekly board review using multiple choice questions and periodic closed book exam simulations.

HSPH residents who participated in the Harvard Board Review scored higher than the national average scores for OM-residency trained candidates on both the core and OM specialty sections. The average Board Review participant scores were 541 on the OM specialty exam and 517 on the Core exam, compared to national residency-trained averages of 483 and 466, respectively.

Since 2003, HSPH has produced 32 new ABPM Board Certified OM physicians.
