Lorna Perkins

Senior Learning Designer

Lorna Perkins is a Senior Learning Designer in the Learning Design and Instructional Support group.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Planetary Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University; a Master of Forest Science from Yale University; and a Master of Liberal Arts from the Harvard Extension School in Digital Media Design, completed during her tenure at Harvard TH Chan.

Lorna worked for many years in technical and educational publishing, including editing for Wolters Kluwer and serving as Managing Editor for Oak Ridge Associated Universities. She began freelance editing and writing and teaching at the college level while raising her two children, now grown. Her tenure as Visiting Faculty at North Shore Community College and Salem State University informed her work with adult learners from all walks of life. She taught a variety of introductory biology lectures and laboratories, anatomy and physiology, and nutrition. She gained further expertise in health- and nutrition-related pedagogy while serving as Content Developer for Pearson Higher Education, where she oversaw Pearson’s online Mastering portfolios in health, nutrition, and kinesiology.

In her spare time, Lorna loves to bake, draw and paint, garden, play the piano (badly!), listen to podcasts, and play with her dog.
