Spring 2021 – Harvard Chan Virtual Teaching Assistant Training
The Spring 2021 TA training will have both synchronous and asynchronous components for students to learn about common TA roles and responsibilities, university policies, and more. Specifically, the asynchronous components will include approximately an hour’s worth of recorded informational content across a variety of topics (similar to past training topics) and will be followed up by a two-hour interactive synchronous training scheduled in late January. The topics for this training will include: Several faculty members sharing their experiences working with TA’s and the value TA’s bring to the teaching and learning experience at HSPH, Supporting Students Academically and Personally, Establishing a Good Working Relationship with Faculty, Fostering Inclusive classrooms and Implicit Bias, and General Tips from Experienced TA’s. In total, students can expect the training to total of approximately three hours.
All new TA’s and those interested in learning more about being a TA should register for this mandatory training by completing this brief survey no later than January 15, 2021 at 12 pm ET: https://hsph.me/2c8
The asynchronous content and Canvas site will be available to TA’s on Wednesday, January 20th followed by the synchronous session scheduled for Wednesday, January 27th from 6-8pm EST.
