Curriculum Center

Overview

The Curriculum Center is responsible for rights and permissions clearance for third party materials reproduced for use in courses and executive education programs, and a school-wide resource for general guidance on copyright and fair use. We collaborate with faculty and others in the process of identifying course content, resources and tools, with a commitment to providing affordable and quality educational content for students.

Location

The Curriculum Center is located in Kresge 121, at the top of the hallway leading to Building 1 off the Kresge first floor lobby.

Information for Course Instructors

The Curriculum Center supports course instructors  in the process of identifying online resources and tools and facilitating distribution of third-party materials as a commitment to providing  quality educational content for students. It is the policy of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health to ensure all required course materials are in compliance with the Harvard University Office of the General Counsel’s copyright and fair use guidelines for the Harvard Community.

Please see the following document for the Curriculum Center Guidelines for best practices for course materials setup in accordance with this policy.

The Curriculum Center does not provide support for Canvas technology. For questions regarding Canvas course website access and setup, please contact the Media and Educational Technology Services team at mets@hsph.harvard.edu.

Process for Requesting Course Readings

All instructors assigning reading materials that may require copyright clearance for reproduction are asked to submit syllabi to the Curriculum Center four weeks in advance of the start of each term.

Feel free to contact the Curriculum Center for guidance and assistance in selecting teaching materials for your course. We are happy to connect via Zoom or in person with faculty, instructors and teaching fellows who would like additional support.

Examples of materials that may require copyright clearance include book excerpts, articles from journals not covered under the Harvard Libraries electronic resources, and Harvard Business School case materials.
