Stata is the primary statistical software package used in the introductory Biostatistics courses ID201 and BST201, and is used in some other courses at the Harvard Chan School as well. The following videos provide an introduction to using Stata.

To follow along with the videos you can access Stata through VDI. Instructions for VDI can be found at https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/information-technology/frequently-asked-questions/vdi-faq/. Once installing VDI please open Stata. Any questions about installing VDI please contact helpdesk@hsph.harvard.edu.
There is a sample Stata dataset available in your P drive via VDI as well called heart.dta, which can be accessed by:
- Click the Start button
- Click on Computer
- Open the P drive
- Double-click on the heart.dta file to open STATA
