Beth Truesdale is a research associate who is co-editing a volume titled Overtime: America’s Aging Workforce and the Future of “Working Longer.” This project, which is funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, gathers an interdisciplinary community of scholars to examine how changes in health, family, work, politics, and the economy may make it increasingly hard for substantial sections of the U.S. population—especially racial minorities and lower-income workers—to continue to work into their 60s and beyond. The aims of the project are to: influence public policies that improve the workplace for older employees; and to increase the public’s understanding of aging and labor force challenges. Beth received her PhD in sociology from Harvard University in 2017, and was a recent Sloan Postdoctoral Fellow on Aging and Work at HCPDS.
