Mauricio Avendano is associate professor at the University of Lausanne and co-director of the Health Policy Lab at the department of epidemiology and health systems at UnisantĂ©. He is also visiting professor of public policy and global health at King’s College London, and adjunct associate professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Avendano’s research leverages quasi-experimental methods and data from randomised controlled trials to examine the health consequences of social programmes and policies such as maternity leave and unemployment benefits, conditional cash transfers, pension system reform in Latin America, and urban and transportation policies. Previously, he was a Bell Fellow here at HCPDS.
