My research involves developing and applying models to evaluate the public health benefits of climate policies and other strategies that mitigate emissions of greenhouse gases, using tools from environmental health risk assessment, health impact assessment, and life cycle assessment. These policies include emissions standards, carbon pricing, renewable energy deployment, combustion fuel switching, and land protection. This often involves working with data on air pollution emissions, working with output from various atmospheric modeling platforms, and linking this to geospatial population and health data and energy system models. These projects have been both U.S. based and international, and this work has have successfully informed climate, energy, and air quality policymaking.
