Biography
Lia Tadesse Gebremedhin is a Professor of the Practice of Public Health at the Global Health and Population Department and the Executive Director of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program. She served as the Minister of Health of Ethiopia from March 2020 to February 2024 after serving as the State Minister of Health for two years. Lia is a physician-leader with over 25 years of experience in government and non-governmental institutions, hospital systems, and academia, who effectively led institutional reforms and strengthened health systems. She has received several recognitions for her accomplishments and has also contributed to the field of public health through her various peer-reviewed publications and the various prominent global leadership roles she has held such as serving as the co-chair of the COVAX AMC Engagement Group, co-chair of the Global Financing Facility (GFF) Investors Group, Vice Chair of the Africa CDC, member of the Gavi Board and a Commissioner in the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health.
