Dr. Reisner is the Director of Transgender Research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is also the Director of Transgender Health Research at The Fenway Institute of Fenway Health, a federally qualified community health center specializing in provision of care to sexual and gender minority LGBTQIA people in Boston, MA. Trained as a social and psychiatric epidemiologist, Dr. Reisner’s research focuses on health inequities in underserved populations, with specialization in transgender and gender diverse population health, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and mental health risks and resiliencies among adolescents and young adults. He utilizes a participatory population perspective to work with not on communities. Dr. Reisner leads multiple studies funded studies by the National Institutes of Health, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and other sources. He has contributed to more than 220 peer-reviewed publications, including measures of sex and gender identity for population health research. He is the founding Associate Research Editor for the Pubmed-indexed journal Transgender Health. In 2016, he was profiled in The Lancet as an emerging leader in global transgender population health. He is an active member of the World Association for Transgender Health and contributor to the upcoming revision of the WPATH Standards of Care Version 8, which will guide clinical practice globally. Dr. Reisner completed two years of post-doctoral training in infectious disease epidemiology in the Department of Epidemiology at Harvard T.H. School of Public Health. He earned a Doctorate of Science from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and holds a Master of Arts from Brandeis University and a Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University.
