Yuan Laboratory Research Focus:
The cellular responses to stress in general, and to radiation in particular, are highly coordinated processes, which, when deregulated, may contribute to the development of stress-associated pathologies and diseases including aging, diabetes and cancer. Our research focuses on elucidation of signaling mechanisms that regulate cellular stress responses and on examining how stress signals affect cell behaviors in the context of cancer. Our long term goal is to gain a better understanding of the biology of carcinogenesis, which would then allow us to design effective strategies for prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancer.

The John B. Little Symposium focused on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and how to better apply them to the next major disease outbreak.
More than 200 people gathered virtually on October 30, 2020 for the 23rd annual John B. Little Symposium to honor the legacy of radiobiology expert John B. Little and to share research on the health effects of radiation.
October 29, 2015 — Cutting-edge work on molecular mechanisms involved in the cellular response to stress was the focus at the 18th annual John B. Little Symposium, held October 23-24, 2015 at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.…
November 16, 2012 -- An emerging area of science is looking at not just how low-dose radiation harms cells, but also how cells respond to deal with this stress—and how science might harness those same mechanisms to benefit human…
