Sahir Iqbal

Rose Service Learning Fellow

Sahir is an MPH student in the department of Health and Social Behavior. He is deeply passionate about advancing equity in communities with a history of injustice, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ people. Prior to attending Harvard, Sahir co-founded Lighthouse LGBT, a platform that helps increase access to inclusive care for the LGBTQIA+ community. He also executive produced Alaskan Nets, an award-winning documentary that depicts the unique challenges faced by the Metlakatla Indian Community and the central role basketball plays in their healing. Sahir completed his undergraduate studies at Middlebury College with a BA in Neuroscience.

In partnership with The Sovereign Native Village of Igiugig in Alaska, Sahir’s project will help characterize the role of self-governance in forging critically needed knowledge for the benefit of Indigenous health equity.
