Vanessa Acosta

Vanessa is a second year MPH-65 student in the department of Health and Social Behavior and is also concentrating in Maternal & Child Health. Her interests lie in child health, health & racial equity, and immigrant health. Vanessa received a BA in Public Health from UC Berkeley, and previously worked providing care coordination services for low-income families in San Francisco. She hopes to utilize her MPH to build system-level initiatives that improve the coordination among the health and social service sectors, to better serve low-income children and their families.

Vanessa’s project focuses on creating a health transition tool kit for youth and young adults with special health needs in Massachusetts, to assist with their transition from pediatric to adult care as well as self-management of their own health.
