Veronica Handunge

Veronica is an MPH-65 student in the department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She is a first-generation student who is passionate about health equity and racial justice. Veronica is interested in using community-engaged and qualitative methods to promote health equity and access to health-related goods in underserved and historically marginalized populations. Veronica is a Gates Millennium Scholar and has a BA in Neuroscience and Behavior, and Business Management from Columbia University. She brings experiences from previous work in using community-engaged methods to address COVID-19 testing inequities, health systems engagement at the Alzheimer’s Association of MA/NH, and life sciences consulting.

Veronica’s project focuses on supporting Justice 4 Housing’s work to respond to COVID-19 related needs (e.g., on-site education, vaccinations) in justice-involved populations, and understanding housing discrimination and housing-related needs to support organization advocacy efforts.
