COVID-19 Guidance Update

Dear Members of the Harvard Chan School Community:

We hope you have had a chance to read the message from Giang T. Nguyen, executive director of HUHS, that was sent earlier today. It’s good news that COVID-19 cases continue to decrease throughout the Harvard community, including here at the Chan School, and that recent cases have mostly been mild.

We wanted to follow up on a couple of the updates in the HUHS message:

Indoor masking requirement: Harvard is continuing to require indoor masking and mask mandates are still in effect in Boston. We will monitor any changes to local and University guidance in the coming days and will follow up with any important updates.

Instructor masking in the classroom: For the time being, Harvard Chan School is holding off on allowing instructors to teach without masks, but we are assessing our ability to accommodate 6-foot distancing in the classrooms, with a goal of offering this option in feasible classrooms starting in Spring 2.

Thank you for continuing to adhere to University and School guidance and for keeping the health and safety of our community front and center.

Sincerely,

Katie and Jane
