Harvard Chan School is excited to welcome students back to campus in fall 2021! The health and safety of our community is our paramount concern as we start the new semester. We are committed to keeping everyone healthy while ensuring excellence in teaching, learning, and research.

As part of the School’s health and safety plan, you must complete several requirements before coming to campus for the first time, including submitting a School-provided COVID-19 test. Additionally, you must also follow a range of health and safety practices while you are on campus.

If you are not planning to attend any Fall Orientation events in-person, every Harvard Chan student is still required to receive 1 negative COVID test result through Harvard’s testing system prior to starting classes in-person. Outside vendor test results cannot be accepted.

For details, please read one of the two documents below. Please visit the University COVID-19 site before contacting us with any questions. If you do have questions, please contact Sarah Stillman in the Office of Educational Programs, stillman@hsph.harvard.edu.

Information for PhD students

Because PhD students at Harvard Chan School receive their degrees under the aegis of Harvard’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS), their COVID-19 testing accounts are handled differently than those of other degree students. If a PhD student has a question about their Color account or needs to change their testing protocol (i.e., if they are away from campus for a semester), they should direction questions to GSAS’s testing protocol contact, Jennifer Flynn, jen_flynn@fas.harvard.edu. If a student is unclear where to direct a particular question, they are welcome to start with Harvard Chan School’s Sarah Stillman, stillman@hsph.harvard.edu, for additional instructions.

PhD students are required to follow all Harvard Chan School requirements for initial COVID-19 testing and for masking.
