On May 1, 2015 over 200 Harvard Chan students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the surrounding community gathered for a moment of silence to remember Freddie Gray who died on April 19 due to injuries sustained while in police custody.

First-year SBS doctoral student, Yulin Hswen, SD ’18 who organized the moment of silence said, “Our turnout was greater than imagined. We are proud of the strong presence of our community and hope this sparks continued action and discussion about social and racial inequities in the U.S. and in the world.”
